Bariatric Hospital
This project was completed the fall semester of my senior year. We were given the task to design the post-surgery unit for a bariatric hospital. We designed our hospital with bariatric needs in mind, as well as universal design. With obesity on the rise around the United States, I wanted to create a hospital that took bariatric needs into consideration without it being conspicuous and without making patients feel as if they're being pointed out as being different. Bariatric patients not only suffer from physical pain, but also suffer from a lot of emotional distress. The inspiration for this hospital is the Blue Heron. The Blue Heron symbolizes dignity, tranquility, and determination, which are all qualities I want our patients to feel being in the hospital.
