Homeless Shelter
This project was completed my sophomore year in the Interior Design program in our studio class as a part of portfolio review. The purpose of this project was to gather information about homeless shelters around the United States, and come up with a design for a homeless shelter. For my design I decided to focus on creating a teen homeless shelter.
My inspiration for the homeless shelter was growth, because I wanted the space for teens to be somewhere they could have a second chance and to grow. The colors I chose for the space were based off of color psychology. Purple increases creativity and positive thoughts, lime green is youthful and fresh, and blue is energetic, calming, and exhilarating. Also included in the homeless shelter is a fully operational coffee shop, to allow the teens living in the shelter to learn practical skills like banking and budgeting, and a variety of other important skills.
